Surging EDM, rappers and tender ballads alike have made the final playlist for the South bracket of talent hunt JioSaavn Spotted.
In their search for young, new and unsigned talent who have unreleased music, JioSaavn Spotted South finalists are narrowed down to six artists. The final songs include the emotional Tamil song “Vazha” by artist Saravanan V., plus composer S.D. Sadikh Hassan’s emphatic electro-pop song “Kaalgal Adhu Tharaiyinil Illaye,” which features vocals by Nikhita Gandhi and Aravind Srinivas with lyrics by Kartheeswaran.
Then there’s the guitar-inflected Telugu hip-hop song “Sye” by Akhil Bandhu aka A-B, who’s been rapping since he was 10 years as part of the crew Rival Mob. Hyderabad/Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and lyricist Sruthi Dhulipala crafts an elegant Telugu song “Maaya” and Chennai-origin Balaganesh Parthiban invokes a rural love story with the breathy “Nenapu Irukka.” Meanwhile, singer-songwriter and producer Vignesh Rajendrakumar chooses to celebrate heartbreak in his Tamil piano-pop song “Un Ninaiviley.”
The South finalists have been announced following JioSaavn Spotted Hindi, East zone and Punjabi finalists and winners, which so far includes Aman Sagar (Hindi), Akash Gautam (Punjabi) and rapper Archiesman Kundu (East zone).
Up next, JioSaavn Spotted will seek entries – unreleased demos from independent artists – in English in October, followed by Haryanvi, Bhojpuri, Kashmiri, Himachali and other Northern languages clubbed together in November.
