At the same time, Canada’s regulatory system is being strengthened by the creation of new policies covering previously unregulated digital spaces. The anticipated transit creates significant opportunities for the Canadian music industry to grow to new heights. As a result of these new policies and the anticipated passage of Bill C-11 (Online Streaming Act), Music Canada will create a new position of Vice President for Regulatory Affairs, reporting to the CEO. bottom. This role will work with the CRTC to create a regulatory system that allows today’s decision makers to understand and value the creation, distribution and consumption of music. This role will be responsible for the effective management and execution of a complex post-implementation regulatory plan on behalf of a major Canadian record label. The Vice President of Regulatory Relations leads her communications with CRTC to ensure that major label interests are represented in Canada and outcomes are clearly understood. This role will work with all music stakeholders on policy implications, and Major will be a long-term advocate and advocate for labels and the music ecosystem as this issue continues to evolve.
