Los Angeles DA George Gascon to announce charges in Catholic Bishop’s murder

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon plans to indict a suspect in the murder of Catholic Bishop David O’Connell.
Gascon is scheduled to hold a press conference at noon Wednesday local time, and officials are expected to release the identity of the suspect.

Authorities have not released many details of the murders.

O’Connell, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, was shot dead at his Hacienda Heights home last weekend.
His deputies responded to the shooting and when they arrived at the scene found O’Connell with a gunshot wound to his chest.
He was confirmed dead at the scene.

O’Connell, 69, was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles by Pope Francis in 2015. Archbishop Jose H. Gomez announced the news during the trade fair on Saturday.
