Persephone Theatre presents Frozen River (nîkwatin sîpiy) on the BackStage Stage, a Manitoba Theatre for Young People production.

The play, written by Michaela Washburn, Joelle Peters and Carrie Costello, follows the story of two 11-year-olds born under the same blood moon who meet in a forest, and that of their descendants who meet in present-day Manitoba. Can a broken promise of the past be righted in the present?

“The show shares valuable lessons about friendship and about our journeys towards reconciliation, both collectively and as individuals. To see the kids so engaged and think about the seeds we’ve planted, it’s just thrilling for me as a performer,” cast member Keely McPeek said.
